Cultural projects with Krétakör Foundation

I started to work for Krétakör Foundation as a production manager responsible for the Bánk Bán – ACT project’s production phase and premiere in Berlin in June 2016. Bánk Bán – ACT was a co-production with the Berlin-based theatre company Novoflot.

Krétakör’s Bánk Bán – ACT was a theatre project produced with young activists who tried to recapture national symbols to dissolve the burden of national romanticism and its stereotypes. They confronted the outdated heroes of the opera with the ambition to define their own identities and to understand what kind of community they wanted to create, which would deserve to be called home and should be fought for. The project had a strong focus on democracy and social responsibility, while performing art and theatrical elements gave the frame and the working method for the presentations. Our goal was to demonstrate the Hungarian socio-political situation and to create a European aspect/reflection to it by getting the German spectators involved.

In October 2016, I coordinated the “See the Human” campaign in 2016. We decided to take action against the Hungarian government’s smear campaign that attacked asylum seekers. It was the only initiative of progressives that dared to put this topic on the agenda.
